Privacy Policy

What we collect, how we protect your photos, and the choices you have — in plain language.
Last updated · July 15, 2026

The short version

inksby ("we," "us") turns your photos into physical prints, canvas, framed art, and books. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The most important thing to know: we treat your photos as private files you have trusted us to print — never as content to mine, sell, or train anything on.
This policy applies to inksby.com, our mobile apps, and the ordering flow. By using inksby you agree to the practices described here.

Information you give us

Account details — your name, email address, and a password (or a token from a sign-in provider) when you create an account.
Order information — the shipping address, recipient name, and the product, size, and finish options you choose.
Photos and files — the images and any text you upload to print. These are the heart of your order and are handled with extra care (see "How we handle your photos").
Saved projects — we automatically save the products, quantities, crop settings, and file references in an unfinished project. Signed-in projects are connected to the account; guest projects use a random browser visitor ID and a secure project capability.
Unfinished-checkout email — if you enter a valid email address during checkout and leave the clearly disclosed recovery option selected, we store that address so we may send one service email with a secure link back to the unfinished project.
Communications — messages you send our support team, survey responses, and reviews you choose to post.

Payment information

Checkout is handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. We receive a confirmation, the last four digits of your card, and a billing ZIP for fraud prevention — we never see or store your full card number.

Saved projects & checkout recovery

The editor automatically saves one unfinished project. A project can include product choices, quantities, crop settings, and links to the uploaded originals and print previews needed to restore the editor. A signed-in project is private to that account. A guest project is associated with a random visitor ID and can be opened or changed only with its secure, time-limited project capability.
At guest checkout, the one-message recovery option is shown separately from marketing and can be turned off. If you leave it selected, enter a valid email address, and leave before paying, we may send one service-recovery email with a secure link to that project. This does not subscribe you to recurring promotions. Marketing email requires the separate, unchecked marketing opt-in.

Information we collect automatically

Device & log data — browser type, operating system, IP address, and the pages you view, used to keep the site secure and working.
Usage analytics — which products you browse and where orders drop off, so we can improve the flow.
Acquisition history — campaign tags, advertising click IDs, referring site, landing path, and a random visitor/session ID for each observable visit or campaign return. We attach a bounded copy of this history to an order so we can measure which marketing led to a purchase.
Cookies & similar tech — small identifiers stored on your device (see "Cookies & analytics").

How we handle your photos

Your uploaded photos are used to let you edit and resume a project, produce an order you place, provide order support, and make a replacement when needed. They travel over an encrypted connection and are stored by our cloud and production providers. They are not used for behavioral advertising.
Your full-resolution print files are kept for up to five months after your order — that is what lets us reprint a damaged or lost print for free without asking you to re-upload — and are then purged from active storage on a rolling schedule. Unattached uploads from guest or unsaved unfinished projects are cleaned up within about three weeks. Your photos are shared only with the professional print lab that produces your order, and only to produce it. We do not use your photos to train machine-learning models, we do not sell them, and we do not share them for advertising. Backups rotate on a rolling schedule and expire automatically.
Files referenced by a saved project remain available while that project is active so it can be resumed. Guest projects expire after about three weeks without activity. Project references are also removed when you complete or clear the project (or close a connected account), and the associated files then follow our deletion process. A small display thumbnail may remain with an order record so you can recognize past purchases and we can provide support; it is not used for advertising and follows the retention of that order record.

How we use your information

To create, print, pack, and ship your orders.
To provide customer support and respond to your messages.
To send service email — order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts, and no more than one recovery message about an unfinished checkout.
To send recurring marketing email only if you separately opt in. You can opt out at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or emailing help@inksby.com.
To detect fraud, enforce our Terms, and keep accounts secure.
To improve our products, pricing, website, and marketing using aggregated reports and pseudonymous visitor, session, and acquisition records.

Cookies & analytics

We use browser storage and similar technologies to run the cart, keep you signed in, and remember the random visitor ID needed for a guest saved project. Analytics, advertising measurement, and session replay run by default in the United States so we can measure our advertising and improve the flow. You can opt out at any time from “Privacy choices” in the site footer — checkout and saved projects work the same either way — and we automatically honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of sharing for advertising. Browser or device controls can also limit storage, though doing so can prevent saved projects from carrying across visits.

How we share information

We share personal data only with parties that help us run inksby, and only for that purpose:
Fulfillment & shipping partners — printing labs and carriers need your files and shipping address to make and deliver your order.
Service providers — payment processing, cloud hosting, email delivery, and analytics vendors, each bound by contract to protect your data.
Legal & safety — when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Business transfers — if inksby is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may transfer as part of that deal, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your photos with advertisers.

Data retention

We keep account and order records for as long as the account is active and as needed to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations. A signed-in saved project is kept until it is completed, cleared, or the account is closed; an inactive guest project expires after about three weeks. A recovery-only email record is scheduled for deletion after about 30 days unless you separately opted in to marketing. Browser acquisition history is limited to about 13 months and the most recent 64 touches; the copy stored with an order follows the order-record retention period. Full-resolution photo files follow the schedules described above; small order-history thumbnails may remain with the associated order record. You may ask us to delete an unfinished project or recovery-only email sooner. When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download, or delete your personal information, to opt out of marketing, and to limit certain processing. Residents of California, the EEA, the UK, and other regions may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA and the GDPR.
To exercise any right, email help@inksby.com from your account address or use the controls in your account settings. We respond within the timeframe the law requires and never charge you for a reasonable request. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your files and will notify you and the authorities as required if a breach affects you.

Children's privacy

inksby is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

inksby is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers where required.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our product and the law evolve. We will post the new version here with a fresh "last updated" date, and for material changes we will give notice by email or in the app.
